CHAPTER 34 – A Jealous Boyfriend
ELIJAH’S POV
To say that I was surprised by Kylie’s sudden change in demeanor was to put it lightly. I mean, sure we were having a bit of a misunderstanding over Lisa. But the Kylie I knew would still give me the time of her day even when she was upset with me. Now she didn’t even so much as want me to see her.
Nah, something was wrong somewhere and I was going to find out what it was.
Thing is, I wasn’t sure where to start. Usually, I could charm her. She would act all mean, but I knew that was all it was. An act. But now, I didn’t think she was acting. She was withdrawn. It’s like she had decided she no longer wanted anything to do with me, and I needed to know what had prompted such change. That was the only way I could reverse it.
She wasn’t taking my calls or replying to my texts, so I decided on the next viable thing. I had to go to her place.
And thankfully, an opportunity to know more about Kylie’s sudden change just so happened to present itself when I found the sculpture watching her building later that evening. Although, it definitely came as a shock to me at first to find it there.
“You!” I called out as I drew close to the sculpture, and it turned to me.
“Me.” It said in a shrill tone and then turned away from me, as though standing there was the most normal thing in the world.
“Yes you. What are you doing here, watching Kylie’s building like a hawk?”
“It just so happens that she appreciates the way I watch over her.”
I drew my brows together, fighting my anger. I had been angry all day, to be honest.
“Did you not learn anything from the last time?”
“Ah yes. The last time. I must have given Miss Kylie quite a scare that day. But she and I now have an understanding. That day was us starting from the wrong foot. Alas, now I keep watch over her.”
Miss Kylie? Had I missed something this past couple of hours?
“Isn’t that dandy? And Is she aware of this?”
“Of course she is. And take it from me, she isn’t very pleased with you right now.”
I drew my brows together and turned to look at her building.
“I didn’t know the both of you were suddenly confiding in each other.” I said stiffly.
“Not necessarily. But I stay close and I’m observant.”
“Yeah right.” I said and lost some of my fight.
“Because of the girl?” I questioned quietly and the sculpture nodded.
“I think it hurt her.”
“I know I did. I understand that. But that doesn’t explain the sudden coldness. I called her today and she didn’t even spare me a minute. She hasn’t replied to the rest of my calls since then.”
“It’s like she’s a different person.” The sculpture said, hitting the nail on the head.
“Yeah, exactly. You’ve been watching her, do you have an idea why?”
“Perhaps it has something to do with the man she saw at night.” The sculpture said harmlessly, but he had done a. Whole lot more harm than he could have known.
“what man?”
“I don’t know his name. She only asked me to stay close by in case something went wrong. But he didn’t hurt her so step in. I didn’t have a reason to.”
Did I just hear correctly? Kylie had been with a man?
I balled my hands into fists, wanting nothing more than to walk into her apartment and demand an answer, but that wasn’t the time. In any case, she didn’t even want to look at me. So I gave her her space, even only for that evening.
But she had some explaining to do, I thought, a

The day of my game came, and I stood at the edge of the field, my helmet under my arm as I searched the cheering crowds.
And then, at last, I saw her, Kyle, sitting by herself, looking completely uninterested in whatever was happening.
But she was there, and that was all that mattered. I was going to make it worth her while.

The referee blew his whistle, announcing the start of the game, and I gave it my all.
I played like a possessed man, dodging players and tackling defenders like a beast.
The crowd roared with cheers whenever I scored a goal. But I didn’t do it for them, I didn’t even do it for me, I did it for her.
Everything I did during the match, was for Kylie. A desperate cry for her to notice me.
At the end of the game, my team and everyone was excited. Everyone but one.
“Hey man, great job out there!” One of my teammates said, excitedly. Clapping me by my shoulder as he walked past, but I was too distracted.
Kylie was leaving, and she didn’t look pleased. Instead, she had a faraway look. Like she meant to be somewhere else, with someone else.
“What is going on?” I questioned under my breath as I watched her leave without the slightest hint of emotion.
The end of the game meant people leaving their seats, and as I walked away to find a way to get to Elijah, I heard a squeal before a girl jumped me out of the blue.
“You were amazing, Elijah!” Lisa screamed, hugging me tight, but I wasn’t having it. Plus, the fact that she was kind of the reason some of these things were happening certainly wasn’t helping my situation.
“Not now, Lisa,” I said a bit angrily and pushed her off me.
I was on edge, so was my wolf and the sight unfolding in front of me wasn’t helping me. A low growl rumbled within my chest and escaped my lips as I watched Kylie approach a man. I didn’t see his face because his back was turned to me, but Kylie seemed to know the bloke.
I nearly lost it when they began to leave together and it took so much of my control to not go after them. The sculpture’s words echoed in my head.
“Perhaps it has something to do with the man she saw at night.”
Was that him? The man Kylie now wanted?
My hands balled in fists as I watched them go. If this was how Kylie wanted it to be, then so be it.
But I’ll be damned if I let so strange bloke take my woman from me.
She wanted to talk to other people? Then u knew some women who could play that role too. She wanted to move on and act like she didn’t care.
Then I would play her game too. I would make her Jealous. If she thought she could simply slip away from me, I was more than happy to remind her that I was her man and I couldn’t be traded for nothing and no one.
I would win her back, whatever on earth it took.
