KYLIE’S POV
As midnight drew nearer, so did my meeting with the werewolf hunter and so did my anxiety it is safe to say that I was beginning to have a bit of cold feet about the whole meeting
I mean, what if the guy was dangerous? After all, he hunted down werewolves for living
But I had accepted his invitation, and with every moment that passed by it was becoming too late for me to chicken out ! just had to go through it. As I got closer, I snapped a twig beneath my foot and his gaze quickly turned to me, and I stopped its eyes were an electric blue, vigilant and brooding And I suddenly wanted to run away
“You must be Kylie.” The man said and sounded a bit kind, a strange contrast to the way he looked
“You know my name?” I asked, fighting anxiety and he shrugged.
“Of course, I believe it’s only normal to have known at least your name before I sent you an email”
“Right,” I said and it occurred to me that I didn’t exactly know his name. Maybe it was fine that I didn’t, seeing as I didn’t think that this was a situation that I would have liked to repeat.
“Please, come have a seat. I promise my only prey are werewolves.”
“That’s… assuring” I said quietly and slowly walked toward him.
I sat on one end of the bench, while he sat at the other end, and I was grateful he respected space.
“So..”
*Jake. You can call me Jake.”
“Jake. Okay. Jake, why me? Why did you feel like you needed to reach out to me while looking for your… prey?”
“That’s a very good question. Well, it’s because I feel you might know some. You did say you had an inkling that you did. And if you’re right, I’d like to take them out before they become a problem.”
“A problem to me, or a problem to you?”
“A problem to everyone.”
“If I didn’t know any better? I’d say you know a lot about them.”
“You have to know your enemy, don’t you?”
“I guess. But, if you don’t mind me asking, what made you detest them this much? A deal that went sour with one?”
He smiled and shook his head. But his smile was a little bit sad.
“A deal that went sour would mean we were friends at first. Or at the very least, acquaintances. It was nothing like that.”
I waited for him to say more. He seemed to have more to say. And something in his eyes told me it wasn’t so pleasant.
“You see, these monsters took everything from me. My wife and my child. I lost them both to a werewolf who was hell–bent on the fact that my wife was his fated mate.”
“Fated mate?”
“Yes. Like soul mate, except it’s more literal and physical for these folks. They know “the one” simply by their scents and their wolf’s reaction. And according to that wolf, my wife was his. I did everything I knew to keep him from getting he but! didn’t know…” he said, and trailed off, and I think he got lost in yesterday.
“I didn’t know I could have simply gotten a witch to break the bond between them. That would have settled that. But time passed and for a moment I thought he had completely let go, until one day I came back… I came back and their blood was everywhere and they were both dead.” He looked so shattered, telling me his story and I longed to reach out and give comfort.
But I knew better than to overstep my boundaries.
“I’m so sorry,” I said sincerely.
“I mourned them and grieved them. And then I got stronger. Then I found him, and I killed him, tore him limb for limb, and fed him to the ravens.” He said with a deadly lilt and I was back to being cautious.

I had told this man I knew about werewolves with Elijah in mind. What if he ended us finding fig and hurting hims Sure, I was mad at Elijah, but that did not mean i wanted ham to diet
He turned to me, “You seem disturbed”
“It’s just… a lot to take in I guess,” I said, but he watching me so intensely with those sector, bid d squirmed
“Try not to feel sorry for them, Kylie. They are monsters, with no teman teating They don’t eat the companies They aren’t even worthy of it.” He said and I pressed my lips together
“I hope I don’t ever have to encounter one then.” I said, trying to sound normal,” fm kot sure can be a strong you have been.” I said and he nodded.
“Take my word for it. You don’t want to have to deal with those monsters. But if you do, my dice to you and simple, Kylie. Run. Just very run very far away”
“Of course,” I said nodding. The weight of his words rested on me like a hard lear
My mind was in chaos by the time I got home. I didn’t want to believe everything the man sa at det er monsters. But look at what they did to his family.
Look at what that boss had done to his Manager at the restaurant.
And Elijah. What did that make Elijah?
A liar? A manipulator? A monster?
I didn’t want to have to be cautious of Elijah. But what if his motives went as pure as I had thought? I mean, c fast he moved toward Lisa.
“Good God.” I sighed as I collapsed on my bed. I felt like I was going to
Lose my mind. And it was so terrible that the one person who I would have loved to call at such a time was someone whol had to begin to keep my distance from.
The most crazy part of all this was how I had still managed to find sleep. However, it was a short one as I was soon awoken by the sound of my phone ringing.
I answered without thinking and Elijah’s voice came through.
“Good morning, Sleepyhead.” And his voice was like cold water being poured over me.
“Elijah,” I said, suddenly self–aware.
“I know you’re still mad at me. But let me make it up to you. How about a little date at the cinema today? We can have a ride at the Ferris wheel if you’re up for that too.” He said sweetly, but my mind was racing and my mind was beating fast. Too fast, as I remembered everything Jack told me last night.
“No,” I said stiffly.
“No?”
“No,” I said again, hung up before he could say anything else.
