CHAPTER 28 The Actual Boss
ELIJAH’s POV
3
The Evening dragged on as I waited for the manager to make the call. But he was stalling, looking at me like I was a fly, a pesky fly he couldn’t wait to get rid of. Well, Jokes on him, because I was stubborn. Plus, he had made Kylie unhappy f wasn’t leaving this place until someone got punished.
“I’m waiting for you to make the call, manager.”
“you… you can’t just come here and make demands like this. The owner of this establishment has a million and one other things to worry about aside from having to deal with a situation like this.”
“ah, I see. Then you should have thought about this before you sided with your server and threatened to throw us out.”
“The peace and tranquility of this place was being disrupted.”
“Well, I’ll let you know that this place will be shut down by tomorrow, if he doesn’t appear. Now, call him.” I said icily, “I won’t be so calm the next time I say this.”
“Are you threatening me?”
“You think yourself to be all that, don’t you? But, no. That wasn’t a threat.” I said coldly.
I watched as some of the arrogance in his demeanor cracked, and a few moments later, he was making the call. I didn’t bother with listening to what had been said, as long as I got my way.
Moments later, a middle aged man dressed in a suit walked through the front doors, and he had a serious expression on. When he saw me, the expression faltered and cleared into confusion, and then respect.
“Mr. Crawford?” he questioned, and I nodded, then took his hand when he stretched it out to me. Unfortunately, his manager was unable to read the room, and began blabbing.
“sir, this is the man who refused to pay for his meal, and when he was called out on this behavior, he chose to cause the scene.”
The owner turned to the man with a look of irritation.
“Would you shut up?” he said, and the manager was taken aback. I spared Kylie a glance, and she too was surprised by the sudden turn of events.
“But sir-”
“Enough.” the owner said, raising up a hand, “are you aware that you have insulted my guest? What? Are you trying to destroy the image of my restaurant?”
“I was only trying to do my job. Sir, I didn’t know.” the manager said, cowering.
“you didn’t know, because you didn’t care to ask. Now look at the problems you have incurred.”
“I’m sorry, sir.” the man said, and I smiled at his humility.
“I’m not the one whom you owe the apology to.” the owner said and gestured toward Kylie and I. the man turned to us, looking very sober and bowed his head.
“I’m sorry for my behavior.”
“and you too!” the owner snapped at the server who looked like he wanted nothing more right then than to vanish.
“I–I am sorry. Please forgive me.” he said, and I shrugged, before turning to the owner who was shaking his head.
“I’m so sorry, Mr. Crawford. This was one big misunderstanding.” the owner said, and I nodded.
“Indeed, it was. Don’t let it happen again.”
I turned to Kylie, who looked like she was taking In the whole situation with surprise, and stretched out my hand to hold her
hand.
“all these troubles have left me a bit famished, what do you say to a little bite before we leave?” She didn’t respond, but turned to the other men.
“Please, stay. It’s on the house.” the owner urged.
“you hear that, kylie? It’s on the house.” I said, and she slowly nodded.
“a little wouldn’t hurt.
“kylie?” I questioned, a few moments later, when I noticed her staring out the window like she saw a ghost or something.
“ky.?” I tried again, when she didn’t respond the first time.
She slowly turned to me, looking somewhat dazed, “I saw something, out there.” she said, pointing out the window.

But she looked at me with some irritation, ‘no, Elijah. I think my eyesight is functioning just fine In fact, if you asked me i’d say I’m beginning to see things, exactly as I should. Exactly for what they are
