CHAPTER 10- NOBODY TOUCHES MY WOMAN
Elijah’s POV
I could not keep away from Kylie, her scent was so addictive that I could not help but get drawn to her. Even Fio was weirdly addicted to her, if she wasn’t around, he started to be a complete pain in the ass.
I waited for Kylie to finish her shift and before I could even realize it, I was already
following her home.
I watched as she got inside her house and was about to leave when my ears picked on a little argument inside. Being a wolf, I was naturally blessed with a strong sense of hearing, and thus with a little effort, I could clearly hear the whole conversation.
Interestingly, they were talking about me.
I chuckled when I heard her father ask her if I was a good choice.

Everything was going great until her father raised the topic of her marriage. I froze on my spot, everything was starting to make sense now. No wonder Kylie was in desperate need of a fake boyfriend, her parents were looking to get her married to someone else.
The argument continued for a good few minutes and honestly, I was surprised by how. brave she was to stand up against her parents. She was not the kind to sit back and get bullied, I liked it.
Humans are naturally weak and all the girls I have met so far were only good at being. the damsel, I never knew one who could put up a fight.
The argument started to heat up and I thought that it was necessary to stop it now. I got in through the gate and was just making my way to the door when suddenly, it flew open. Kylie was dragged out by her mother and tossed out like garbage, if not for me catching her, she would have hit the floor.
She looked at me with a hint of surprise in her tear–stained eyes. Fio started to growl when he saw that his girl was being mistreated, I had to forbid him from shifting and ripping apart the couple.
“Elijah? Why are you here?” Kylie asked but I ignored her question and helped her stand up, “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“No…” She said, loosening herself from my grip.
The despair on her face filled me with rage. To make things worse, her mother spoke up, “You! How did you get in here?”
I shot a glance at her mother and said, “Who allowed you to touch her?”

“What did you say?”
“I said, who allowed you to touch her?”
The woman’s expression changed drastically, maybe she did not see it coming. Seeing her wife getting scolded by a teenage boy, Kylie’s father stepped in, “Hey, don’t talk to my wife like that.”
“And what gives you the right to treat Kylie like this?” I asked, “She did nothing wrong! None of you have the right to tell her what she has to do with her life.”
“We are her parents and this is our family’s business. You don’t need to meddle in something that doesn’t concern you.”
“You don’t own her. She is a living human with a life and dreams of her own.” I said before pulling her in my arms, “And besides, I am her man. I have all the reasons to meddle in your so–called family business.”
“Boy! Watch what you say, you might regret it later.” Her father raised his voice to scare me but I hardly lifted an eyebrow. I hugged her tighter and said, “And you, sir, watch how you treat her in the future. Nobody touches my woman.”
The couple was taken aback by my words and by the look of it, they seemed to be fuming in anger.
I said, “Let this be the last time you ever mistreat her. If it happens again in the future, I will make you both pay a thousand folds back.”
I did not wait for the couple to reply and turned around to leave with Kylie. While we were walking away, I heard Mr Wade threatening Kylie to stop but she did not react at all.
I hailed a cab and got in and once we were inside, she finally broke down in tears,” How could they do this to me? They were my family, how can they be so cruel?”
My heart was shattered to see her like this; I hugged hér gingerly and tried my best to comfort her, “It’s ok. Not everyone deserves kindness.”
*They gave up on me so easily. They did not even put up a fight to save me. How…. How can they? It’s like they don’t even care about me.”
“Shhh… You are not alone. You have me.” I caressed her head and let her cry shoulders, “I won’t ever give up on you.”

Kylie froze and pulled herself away from my arms without a warning. I did not force her, we were just fake couples and we had our limitations. Maybe she remembered those!
Neither of us said anything for the rest of the ride. I would steal glances at her now and then to see her looking out of the window, wiping her tears. She looked hurt and lost, making my wolf howl in pain along with her.

Since she had no place to go, I took her back to my apartment. Kylie looked at the building but did not say anything. She followed me back to my room like a drenched

Her aura was completely different from the last time she visited here, she was melancholic and silent.
I knew my limits and tried to be as gentle with her. I gave her a quick tour of the house and passed her a towel, “You must be tired. Get a quick shower.”
Kylie grunted before mindlessly going into the shower, she did not even bother to think. what she was gonna wear after the shower.
I searched through my wardrobe and found a T–shirt and a pair of shorts. They were too right for me, so hopefully they would fit her.
I arranged the clothes on the bed so that she could find them easily.
Fifteen minutes later, Kylie peeped out of the bedroom door, dressed in my clothes.
They were still awfully large for her but manageable.
I averted my eyes from her to stop staring at her like a creep and said, “I got you some snacks.”
“Really?” She took the bag from my hand and said, “Thank you.”
She sat down on the sofa next to me, munching on the Pringles. But no matter how much she ate, she did not seem to be getting happy.
I asked, “Do you want to watch a movie?”
“No. I don’t feel like it.”
“OK.”
After a while, she said, “I am sorry for the unnecessary trouble. I did not expect things. to get this ugly.”
“It’s ok. I don’t mind it.”
“You are so understanding, Elijah.” She looked at me and said, “I never expected them to kick me out of the house over this.”
Even though she was pretending to be alright, I could hear the sorrow in her tone. said, “Do you want me to help you get back at your parents?”

“Get back at my parents?” She raised an eyebrow and asked, “I would love to punish them for what they did to mé but… how are we going to do that? The Wade family is too powerful, even if we wanted, we can’t do anything.”
I grunted, agreeing with her, “You are right.”
Kylie kept her hand on my shoulder and said, “I appreciate your kindness and your will to help me, Elijah. But sometimes, it is smarter to step back and let karma do its thing.” I nodded and changed the topic, “It’s late, you should head to sleep now.”
“Sleep?” Kylie’s face flushed red as she looked at the bedroom door with one single

bed in it. I chuckled at her dreadful expressions and said, “Don’t worry. You can sleep on the bed, I will take the sofa.”
“Are you sure?” Sh
She bit down on her lips, a little hesitant about making me sleep here but I assured her that it was alright.
“Okay then.” She stood up from her seat, waved me good night, and retreated into the bedroom.
I watched the door close and the lights being turned off. Once I was sure that she had fallen asleep, I picked up my phone to call Dean again.
“What is it? Did it not work?” Dean asked as soon as he picked up the phone.
I replied, “The results were mediocre but I did not call you for that.” Cunningness flashed all over my eyes, “I want you to do something for me.”
The next day…
Kylie came running out of her room with her phone in her hand.
“Elijah! Wake up!” She shook me until I parted my drowsy eyes open.
“What is it, kitten?” I say upon my dear, giving her some room to sit down.
The girl enthusiastically showed me her phone and said, “My mother called. The wedding is off.”
“What? Are you for real?” I asked, pretending to be surprised.
“Yes! Apparently the groom’s family called and broke off the engagement.”
I smiled through my lazy aura and said, “That’s great. Congratulations, Kylie.”
“Thank you.” She said before slowly asking, “Did you, by any chance, have a hand in this?”
“What? Why would you think that?” I cocked an eyebrow.
She said, “I don’t know. You are the only person who knows I am not happy with the -marriage and suddenly, it’s called off.”
I raised my hand and said, “I am happy that you think I am capable of pulling such things but trust me, I am just an ordinary guy. They won’t even pick up if I call them.”
Kylie lowered her gaze and said, “You are right. You are just a high school kid, there is no way you could have done this.”
