CHAPTER 21- MEAN MORE THAN I THOUGHT
Elijah’s POV
When I saw her walk away despite my warnings, I was burning with fury. I wanted to lift her up and take her back home, keep her tied to the bed until she regained her
senses.
Her parents!
What kind of assholes would do something like this to their own daughter? Why are monsters like them even eligible to adopt a child?
How badly I wish to claw into their chest and see how rotten their heart is but alas, I am afraid Kylie would hate me if she found out what I really was.
Even though she walked away and made her decision of choosing her ego over me, I could not let her go. She was my girl and I will protect her even if she doesn’t need me

I called my Beta and asked him to immediately shut down whatever project this was.
“Tell the boss if he doesn’t shut down this project, I will shut down his entire business.” I spat on the phone and hung up.
looked in the direction she had just left. She is not in her right mind, I will give her more time to contemplate on her choice.
I had the season’s final match today but as soon as I found out Kylie was being stupid, I pulled the strings to postpone it. I was the captain and had a team to take care of but it did not take me a single second to abandon them for her.
Fuck! I really love that girl.
She is more important to me than I could ever understand or acknowledge!
I could have solved this, issues like this are not even worth worrying about but Moon Goddess sure knows how to test people. She dawned the problem on her when she was all alone and vulnerable. I was not even around to take care of her and I blame myself for this incompetence.
I am willing to give her the whole damn world, all she has to do is ask!
By the time I reached my hotel room, it was already late at night. Dean was waiting for me at the hotel lobby and as soon as he saw me, he rushed towards me, “Is everything alright?”
“Yes. Did you take care of it?”
Successfully unlocked!
He nodded, “Yes. They have blacklisted Kylie. Not just this, no other magazine will ever take her for projects like this.”
“Good.” I was satisfied with this, “What about the game?”

“Sorted. It is rescheduled for tomorrow.”
“No one knows it was us, right.”
“Yes, Elijah. You think I will ever do half–baked work?”
Even though an Alpha doesn’t get a Beta until he officially takes charge of the pack, I and Dean grew up together. He was the son of the current Beta of the park and it was inevitable that he was going to succeed his father in that position.
He was very smart and reliable so I trusted him blindly!
I went back to the room to get some rest. I entered the room and turned on the lights when my phone chimed. It was the notification of some email that Kylie has sent from our computer.
I clicked it open to see the content. Turns out she has decided to back off from that project.
My eyes softened and I turned off the phone screen.
“I knew you would make the right choice, kitten. I am proud of you.”
The next day…
I got busy with the match! It was a no brainer that we won. These petty humans can never fight and win against werewolves like us!
Werewolves live in a separate community, away from humans. We never make ourselves known because the fiasco it would create was just not worth it. A werewolf would very rarely leave his pack to come live with the humans. It is either he was a very low rank and wanted to live a better life or was banished from the pack. But for me, this was not the case!
I just wanted to live amongst the humans and experience what it felt like. I was really bored of pack life and sought some adventure.
When I first came to the city and enrolled in that school, everything was new and fascinating. I quickly grew a knack for football and became the team captain.
But now, I am bored of this. I was ready to quit and not take it seriously anymore.
I was going to graduate in a few months and after that, I will have to go back to the pack to prepare to take over.
After the season was folded up, it was time to go back. After I sat down in the bus was when I finally got the time to turn on my phone. A bunch of messages were waiting for my immediate attention but my eyes were drawn to Kylie’s.
She had sent me a long string of texts!
I was just about to click then open when my phone screen lit up the notification of an incoming call.
It was from my father.

He never calls me unless it was something urgent so I immediately picked up the call.
I was right! The rogues were causing trouble in the pack territories and he summoned me back to take care of it.
I and Dean had to leave immediately so as soon as our bus landed in the school premises, we left for the pack. We did not even have the time to stay back for the celebration.
The situation back home was messier than I had expected. The rogues were troublesome and I always knew they were good for nothing. But my father was the kind of Alpha who would choose peace over violence.
He tried to maintain a cordial relationship with them but they were taking it for granted. It was time to show them what their place was.
Not only did I kill the Alpha of the rogues, I forced them to shift to the mountains where they could disturb no one.
By the time this all folded up, it was already three days. Tomorrow was the last date of Kylie’s fees payment.
I did not wait in the pack any longer and immediately rushed back to the school to check on her.
Since she was still doing the internship, I knew she would be in the ground. But as soon as I entered the hall, I saw her petrified as her ex was leaning forward to kiss her.
“Step away from her.” I did not even wait to analyse the situation and growled.
Justine shivered at the sight of me and immediately stepped back, “E–Elijah…”
I did not wait for him to say anything and immediately grabbed his collar to shove him against the locker.
“Please let me go!” He immediately started pleading looking at the wrath in my eyes.
I lifted him up in the air and spat on his face, “If I see you around her one more time, I will kill you.”
The boy was shivering like a leaf and as soon as I loosened my grip, he fell down on the floor and ran away.
Even though I had almost made him shit in his pants, my anger wasn’t vanquished. I was going to hunt him down and make him regret every second of this.
“E–Elijah…” Kylie’s soft voice called me. The anger burning inside me disappeared in thin air and I turned around to look at her.
Tears were rolling down her face and she looked up at me with quivering lips.
Did I scare her?
Am I the reason she is crying?
Fuck! I was so blinded by jealousy and anger that I startled her.

“Ky…” Just as I parted my lips to call her name, I saw the girl run into my arms and engulf me in a tight hug.
I was stunned and did not understand what was happening until she said, “Elijah, where were you? I was so scared that I might never seen you again.”
As soon as her words reached my ears, I wrapped my arms around her lightly and picked her up in my arms.
“I know I was being stupid but why did you stop talking to me! Why did you disappear for so long? Do you know how scared I was?” She could hardly say those words because of her hiccups.
“I am sorry, baby. I am sorry I disappeared. I did not mean to scare you.” I wanted to hug her so tight that she merges with my body but I had to be careful not to hurt her.
I put her down and she threw a slap across my face, “Never leave me alone ever again!”
If it was someone else, I would have ripped apart–the arm which dared to touch my face but here… I surrender. I got on my knees and held her arm. Kissing on it, I said, “I
would never leave you out of my sight ever again.”
I will forever be here, Kylie. Even if you don’t need me, even if you push me away, I will always stick around and protect you.
