I was too gone to care about anything except the way Kester’s strong arms wrapped around me.
The heat, the exhaustion, the absolute ruin of it all had me slumping against his chest, my body boneless and weak.
Sleep was dragging me under, pulling me into a place of warmth and exhaustion, but then Kester’s gruff voice yanked me out of my daze.
“You do realize what you just did, don’t you?” He asked, and my eyes fluttered, barely
managing to stay open.
I tried to lift my gaze, but it felt impossible. The heaviness in my limbs, the aftershocks of pleasure, made me sluggish. Too slow.
“What… what do you mean? What did I do?”
“The bite, baby. The blood. We took from each other.” He said, and my heart slammed against my ribs so hard that I was sure he could feel it. His eyes flicked down to my thundering pulse point, and his smirk only deepened.
“What are you talking about, Kes?” I asked, my brows narrowed as my eyes scanned his desperately, hoping he was just trying to pull my legs. But, sadly, Kester never pulls anyone’s legs. Whatever he says is always serious business.
He ran his thumb over my lips, scooping the last trace of my blood, brought it to his mouth, and licked it off with a slow, agonizing swipe of his tongue.
“Ever heard of the Blood Claim?” He asked and my heart screeched to a stop as realization began to set in.

The Blood Claim was a ritual that binds two mateless wolves together until one or two of
them find their mates.
It was way different from the usual bonding mark, but they were both very potent.

In fact, the Blood Claim was used when a man demanded submission from a female wolf
who had no mate. It thrives on total submission and obedience from the female wolf for
as long as she remains unmated.
My stomach twisted violently.
I swallowed hard,
maintaining his trying to push myself off of him, but he held me firmly, still
“You can’t run from it, Mine,” he murmured, satisfaction dripping from his tone.
“There’s no way in hell I’m bound to you, Kester!” I breathed, rage curling hot in my gut. “Why didn’t you stop me? Why did you make me bite you? Why did you bite me back?! I sobbed, “Kester… You are my brother!”
His smirk was a brand, burning itself into my memory.
“You wanted it just as much as I did,” he said simply.
I wished I could wipe off that smug look he had on his face. He looked satisfied and accomplished.
“I want to take it back,” I choked out. “I… I don’t want this- Gods, I sounded stupid, knowing that the only way to undo this was to pray my birthday comes faster.
“You don’t get to take that back, Kasmine. You don’t get to claim me and still think you
have a choice.”
He fisted a handful of my hair in his hand, pulling me closer until we were just a breath away from each other.
“From this moment on, I don’t just control you physically. His voice dropped, dark and possessive. “I own your mind, your choices, your fate.”
A shudder racked through me.
“I don’t have to ask for your submission anymore, Kasmine. I expect it.”
“No, Kester…” I whimpered, my body trembling beneath his hold..
“You sealed your fate the moment you tasted my blood.” His lips brushed my jaw, his

breath hot against my skin. “You’re mine now. Completely.
I held his gaze, trying to muster up what little defiance I had left in me. “Not for so long. Kester. I’ll find my mate in two weeks, and I’ll gain my freedom from you.”
He scoffed like I had just blabbed something stupid, “You won’t get to meet your mate, Kasmine. You will never be with another man who isn’t me.”
