_Mira’s POV_
The drive to the pack hospital felt like the longest ride of my life. Killian was slumped against me, his head resting on my shoulder, his breathing shallow. I kept my hands pressed against his wound, trying to stop the bleeding, but the warm, sticky blood continued to seep through my fingers. I could feel my heart pounding in
my chest. I was so scared.
“Stay with me, Killian,” I whispered, my voice shaking. “You promised, remember? You’re not allowed to leave
me.”
Killian’s lips twitched into a faint smile, though his face was pale. “I’m not going anywhere,” he murmured weakly. “I still owe you dinner, don’t I?”
I let out a shaky laugh. I could feel tears streaming down my face. “You’re ridiculous, you know that?
“Yeah,” he whispered, his eyes fluttering closed. “But you like me anyway.”
“Killian!” I said sharply, shaking his shoulder. “Don’t close your eyes! Talk to me. Stay awake.”
He groaned softly but opened his eyes again. “You’re bossy,” he muttered.
“And you’re reckless,” I shot back, my voice breaking. “Now stop talking and focus on staying awake.”
The car screeched to a halt in front of the pack hospital, and the guards quickly helped me get Killian cut. A nurse was already waiting with a trolley, her face grim as she took in the sight of Killian’s blood–soaked shirt. “Get him inside, now!” she barked, and the guards carefully placed him on the trolley
I clung to his hand as they started wheeling him away, but the nurse stopped me. “You need to wait here, ma’am,” she said firmly. “We’ll take care of him.”
“I can’t leave him,” I said, my voice trembling.
“I promise we’ll do everything we can,” she said, her eyes kind but determined. “You need to let us work.” Reluctantly, I let go of Killian’s hand, watching as they disappeared through the double doors. My legs felt like they might give out, so I sank into one of the chairs in the waiting area, my hands still shaking.
The guard who had been with us stood nearby, his face serious. “We have caught the sniper,” he said quietly “He has been secured in the cellar. The Alpha has been informed about what happened.”
I barely registered his words. My mind was consumed with thoughts of Killian–his pale face, the blood, the way he had smiled at me even when he was in pain.
The guard hesitated before speaking again. “Don’t worry,” he said, his voice softer now. “The bullet didn’t seem to hit any vital organs. The doctors are skilled. He’ll pull through.”
I wanted to believe him, but the fear in my chest was too overwhelming. I couldn’t lose Killian. Not after everything we had been through. Not when I was just starting to hope again.
Minutes dragged into what felt like hours, though it was probably only thirty minutes before Alpha Roger and Luna Marinette arrived. They rushed into the waiting area, their faces pale and filled with worry,

eyes scanning me for injuries. “What happened? How did this happen?”

Luna Marinette was right behind him, her expression a mix of concern and fear. “Where is Killian? Is he-” She couldn’t finish the sentence, her voice breaking.
I stood, my legs trembling. “He is in surgery,” I said quietly. “The doctors are working on him now.“”
Alpha Roger’s jaw tightened, and he placed a steadying hand on my shoulder. “Tell me everything,” he said. ” You were with him when this happened.”
I nodded, my throat dry. “We were… we were on a picnic,” I began, my voice trembling. “Killian wanted to
surprise me. He took me to a field of sunflowers, and we were talking and eating. Then… then I felt something
change. I didn’t hear the shot, but Killian-” My voice cracked, and I swallowed hard. “He pushed me to the
ground and took the bullet.”
Luna Marinette gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. Tears welled in her eyes, and she clutched Alpha
Roger’s arm. “He… he saved you,” she whispered.
I nodded, my eyes filling with tears again. “He said it was aimed at me. He didn’t even hesitate.”
Alpha Roger’s expression darkened, his eyes blazing with anger. “A sniper,” he growled. “How dare they attack
my son? My family?”
The guard stepped forward, bowing his head respectfully. “Alpha, we’ve captured the sniper. He’s being held
in the cellar. We’re awaiting your orders.”
Alpha Roger’s eyes narrowed. “I’ll deal with him personally,” he said, his voice cold and dangerous. “He will pay for this attack. But first, I need to know who sent him.”
The guard nodded. “We’ll interrogate him, Alpha. He won’t escape justice.”
Luna Marinette’s grip on Alpha Roger’s arm tightened. “But what about Killian?” she asked, her voice trembling. “Is he going to be okay?”
The guard glanced at me, then back at the Alpha. “The doctors said the bullet didn’t hit any vital organs. They’re confident they can remove it and stop the bleeding.”
I wanted to believe him. I wanted to hold on to those words like a lifeline, but the image of Killian lying there, pale and bleeding, wouldn’t leave my mind.
Alpha Roger turned back to me, his expression softening slightly. “Mira,” he said gently, “you don’t need to blame yourself for this. This isn’t your fault.”
I shook my head, my voice breaking. “If I hadn’t been there, Killian wouldn’t have gotten hurt. He wouldn’t
have-”
“No,” Alpha Roger interrupted firmly. “Don’t think like that. Killian is strong, and he would have done the same thing a thousand times over. He cares about you, Mira. That’s why he acted.”
Luna Marinette stepped closer, her hand brushing my arm. “He’s right,” she said softly. “Killian loves you. He would never forgive himself if something happened to you.”
Tears spilled down my cheeks, and I looked away, unable to meet their eyes. “I just want him to be okay,” I whispered.
“We all do,” Luna Marinette said, her voice breaking. “He’s our son.”

The room fell silent for a moment, the weight of everything pressing down on us. I stared at the double doors,
willing them to open, willing someone to come out and tell us that Killian was going to be fine.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the doors swung open, and a doctor stepped into the waiting area. His
scrubs were stained with blood, and my heart clenched at the sight.
Alpha Roger was the first to speak. “How is he?”
The doctor pulled off his mask, his expression calm but tired. “The bullet was removed successfully,” he said. “It missed his vital organs, but he lost a significant amount of blood. He’s stable now, but he’ll need rest and
monitoring.”
Relief flooded through me so suddenly that my legs nearly gave out. I sagged against the chair, tears streaming down my face.
“Can we see him?” Luna Marinette asked, her voice trembling.
The doctor nodded. “He’s being moved to a private room. You can see him soon, but he’ll be asleep for a while. His body needs time to recover.”
Alpha Roger let out a long breath, his shoulders relaxing slightly. “Thank you, doctor,” he said. “Thank you for saving my son.”
The doctor nodded again, then turned and disappeared back through the doors.
I sat there for a moment, trying to process everything. Killian was alive. He was going to be okay. Relief and exhaustion washed over me in waves, and I wiped at my tears, my hands still shaking.
Alpha Roger turned to me, his expression softening. “You should get some rest, Mira. You have been through
a lot.”
I shook my head. “I need to see him,” I said firmly. “I need to know he’s really okay.”
Luna Marinette smiled gently. “You’ll see him soon,” she said. “And when you do, you can tell him just how much he means to you.”
I nodded, clutching that thought to my heart. Killian had risked everything for me, and I wasn’t going to waste another moment keeping my feelings to myself. I would tell him the truth. I just hoped I would get the chance.
