Chapter 73
_Mira’s POV_
I woke up the next day feeling different. There was an energy inside me, something powerful and steady, like a fire that had been lit and refused to go out. I couldn’t deny it–there had been a change in me. My bond with my wolf felt complete, and for the first time, I believed I had a chance to face Aaron and win.
Killian, however, seemed determined to make sure I didn’t leave his sight. “You’re not going anywhere without me,” he said over breakfast, his tone leaving no room for argument.
I frowned, setting down my coffee. “Killian, I’m fine now. I’m stronger than before.”
“That doesn’t mean Aaron won’t come for you,” he said, crossing his arms. “I can’t take any chances, Mira. You stay in the house unless I’m with you. Understood?”
I rolled my eyes. “You’re being overprotective.”
He didn’t back down. “And you’re underestimating the danger. Promise me, Mira.”
“Fine,” I muttered, giving in.
The day passed slowly. I spent most of it curled up on the couch, watching TV and flipping through books. It was peaceful, but I couldn’t shake the feeling of being caged. By dinner, I was itching for something,
anything, to break the monotony.
At dinner, Killian surprised me. “How about we go on a real date tomorrow?” he asked, his voice casual, but his eyes watching me carefully.
I blinked at him. “A date? Killian, you just said it’s safer for me to stay indoors.”
He smirked, flexing his arm and pointing at his biceps. “I’m the Alpha’s son, remember? I can protect you. We’ll take guards if it makes you feel better.”
I stared at him. I was unimpressed. “Really? Showing off your muscles now?”
He grinned. “Hey, these muscles aren’t just for show. So, what do you say? There’s a new Italian restaurant I’ve been wanting to try. Let me take you.”
I hesitated but eventually nodded. “Fine. Tomorrow.”
Honestly, I wasn’t sure why I agreed. Maybe I was bored, or maybe part of me was curious. Either way, I couldn’t help but feel a little nervous about spending the evening with Killian.
The next evening, Killian was waiting for me downstairs, looking far too confident. He was dressed casually but neatly, his dark hair tousled just enough to look effortless.
“You look great,” he said when I came down, his voice warm.
“Thanks,” I mumbled, feeling self–conscious.
The drive to the restaurant was quiet, but Killian kept stealing glances at me. When we arrived, the restaurant was cozy and dimly lit, with soft music playing in the background. It felt… intimate, which only added to my
nerves.

We sat at a corner table, and a waiter handed us menus. I scanned mine quickly, trying to avoid Killian’s gaze. “What are you thinking of getting?” he asked, leaning forward.
“Maybe the fettuccine Alfredo,” I said, “You?”
“Lasagna,” he replied. Then he smirked. “Though, if I’m being honest, I’m more interested in the company than the food.”
I rolled my eyes. “Is that your attempt at flirting?”
He chuckled. “Is it working?”
“No.”
“Harsh,” he said, feigning a wounded expression.
The waiter returned to take our orders, and as soon as he left, Killian picked up where he left off. “You know, you’re really hard to impress, Mira.”
“I’m not looking to be impressed,” I said simply.
He tilted his head, his dark eyes studying me. “Maybe that’s what I like about you. You’re real. Honest.”
I felt my cheeks warm under his gaze. “You’re laying it on thick tonight, Killian.”
“Maybe,” he admitted with a shrug. “But I mean it. You’ve been through so much, and you’re still standing. That’s pretty amazing.”
I didn’t know what to say to that, so I stayed quiet. Thankfully, our food arrived, giving me a chance to focus on something other than Killian’s intense attention.
The meal was good, and I found myself relaxing a little as we ate. Killian kept the conversation light, asking about my favorite books and movies, and telling me funny stories about his childhood.
By the time we finished eating, I was almost enjoying myself. Almost.
“So,” Killian said, leaning back in his chair. “What do you want to do now? Shopping? A movie?”
I shook my head. “I’m tired. I think I just want to go home.”
His expression softened. “Fair enough. Let’s get you home.”
The drive back was quiet. Killian didn’t push for more conversation, and I was grateful for the silence. My mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, most of them about how strange the night had been.
When we got back to the house, I headed straight for my room. I was halfway to my bed when I heard the door close behind me.
I turned to find Killian standing there, his expression unreadable. “Do you need something?” I asked,
confused.
His dark eyes locked on mine. “Yeah. Just one thing.”
“What’s that?”
“You,” he said, his voice low and intense.
I blinked, my heart skipping a beat. “Killian, I don’t understand-”

He stepped closer, and I instinctively backed away until my back hit the wall. He placed his hands on either
side of me, caging me in.
“Killian, what are you doing?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
He leaned in, his breath warm against my skin. “I can’t let you go, Mira,” he said softly. “I know I’ve made mistakes, but I can’t lose you. Please, don’t treat me like your brother. Punish me another way if you must,
but don’t push me away.”
His words sent a shiver through me. “Killian, we’re friends. It’s better that way.”
“No,” he said firmly. “The Moon Goddess chose us as mates. I ruined everything, but it’s not too late. I’ll fix it, Mira. Just give me a chance. We’re meant to be together.”
I didn’t know what to say. My mind was racing, and my heart was pounding in my chest. His face was so close, and his lips looked so soft… I blushed, embarrassed by my own thoughts.
Before I could say anything, he leaned down and kissed me.
For a moment, I froze. Then, to my own surprise, I kissed him back. His lips were warm and gentle, and my wolf was purring with happiness.
But then reality crashed over me. I pushed him away and slapped him, hard.
“How dare you kiss me without my permission?” I demanded, my voice shaking.
Killian’s eyes flashed with anger. He stepped back, his jaw clenched. “Fine,” he said coldly. “I’ll go.”
He stormed out, slamming the door behind him.
I sank to the floor, my emotions a tangled mess. The kiss had felt so good, but I couldn’t afford to let myself get distracted. I had to focus on Aaron and the fight ahead.
Still, a small part of me couldn’t stop replaying the way Killian’s lips had felt against mine.
