Chapter 36

Sophia’s POV_

I paced the room, my fists clenched at my sides. My heart raced as I replayed Killian’s words in my head. heard everything.” Those three words felt like knives stabbing into me. How could he know? I had been so careful, so sure he would never find out. Yet here I was, on the brink of losing everything

Killian was acting so cold, so distant. And worst of all, he kept looking at Mira. I could see it in his eyesthe guilt, the regret, thecare. Was he falling for her now? The thought made my stomach chum. No, this couldn’t happen. I wouldn’t allow it. He was mine, and Mira had no right to him

I sat on the edge of the bed, taking deep breaths to calm myself. The solution was simple. I had done it once before, and I could do it again. Killian just needed another dose of the love potion

The first time I had used it, it had worked perfectly. He had looked at me like I was the center of his world His every word, every action, had been proof of his love for me. But nownow that effect was fading. The potion’s magic was wearing off, and his bond with Mira, his true mate, was trying to take hold. I wouldn’t let it. Not when I had worked so hard to get here

Grabbing my phone, I dialed the witch’s number. It rang twice before she picked up

Who is this?the witch’s voice crackled through the line

It’s me, Sophia,” I said, trying to keep the panic out of my voice. I need your help again”

There was a pause, and then a low chuckle. Ah, Sophia. Back so soon? Let me guessyou need another

potion.”

Yes,I said quickly, my fingers gripping the phone tightly. The love potion. I need more of it. Kilian, te is starting to remember things, and he has been distant.”

Interesting, the witch said, her voice dripping with amusement. The potion I gave you was strong, it shOND have lasted longer. Perhaps his bond with his mate is stronger than I thought.”

I gritted my teeth. I don’t care about that. Just tell mecan you make more?”

Of course, she said smoothly. But it will cost you.”

Money isn’t a problem,I said, waving my hand as if she could see me. I’ll pay whatever you want

The witch let out a soft laugh. Very well. Come to my cabin tomorrow evening, and I’ll have it ready for you. But be warned, Sophiamagic has its limits. You cannot keep him under your spell forever

I’ll deal with that later,I snapped. Just make the potion.”

Suit yourself, she said, and the line went dead

I threw the phone onto the bed and let out a frustrated sigh. Tomorrow couldn’t come fast enough. I that potion, and once Killian drank it, everything would go back to the way it was. He would forget about Mira, forget about the bond, and remember that he belonged to me

The next morning, I woke up with a renewed sense of purpose. I spent most of the day avoiding Kilian. He was still angry with me, and I didn’t want to risk saying something that would make things worse, I had to play this carefully

I waited until the sun started to set before leaving the packhouse. No one noticed me slip out the back door and into the forest. The witch’s cabin wasn’t far, but the path was winding and overgrown. I pushed through the bushes, the cold evening air biting at my skin

When I reached the cabin, the door creaked open before I could knock. The witch stood in the doorway, a sly smile on her face. She was tall and thin, with piercing green eyes that seemed to see right through me

Sophia, she said, stepping aside to let me in. I was starting to think you had changed your mind.”

Not a chance,” I said, brushing past her. The cabin smelled of herbs and smoke, and jars of strange ingredients lined the shelves. In the center of the room was a small table with a bubbling cauldron

Do you have it?I asked, crossing my arms

The witch chuckled and walked over to the cauldron. She picked up a small vial filled with a shimmering, pink liquid and held it up. Here it is. One love potion, just like before. A few drops in his drink, and he’ll be yours

again.”

I reached for the vial, but she pulled it back

Not so fast, she said, her green eyes narrowing. You remember the price?”

I sighed and pulled a wad of cash from my pocket, placing it on the table. The witch inspected it, then nodded and handed me the vial

Be careful, Sophia,” she said, her voice suddenly serious. The more you rely on this, the harder it will be to break free from the consequences. Magic always comes with a price.”

I ignored her warning and slipped the vial into my pocket. I’ll keep that in mind,I said dryly. Thanks for the

help.”

The witch watched me with a knowing smile as I left the cabin and made my way back to the packhouse. Her words lingered in my mind, but I pushed them aside. I didn’t have time to worry about consequences. All that mattered was keeping Killian by my side

That night, I waited for the perfect moment. I went to Killian’s house. He was in his room, going through some pack documents. He looked tired, his shoulders slumped and his brows furrowed in concentration. I stepped into the room, a tray with two cups of tea in my hands

Your mom has sent this for you,” I said softly, setting the tray on the desk

Killian glanced up at me, his expression unreadable. Thanks,” he muttered, reaching for one of the cups

I held my breath as he brought it to his lips and took a sip. The potion was already mixed into the tea, and I watched closely for any sign that it was working

For a moment, nothing happened. Killian set the cup down and rubbed his temples, letting out a sigh. Then his eyes softened, and he looked at me in a way that made my heart race

Sophia,” he said, his voice gentle. I have been so harsh with you lately. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

I felt a wave of relief wash over me. It was working. The potion was taking effect

I know,I said, forcing tears into my eyes. I justI have been so scared, Killian. I thought I was losing you.”

He reached out and took my hand, his touch warm and reassuring. You don’t have to worry,he said. I’m here. I’ll always be here.”

I smiled, trying to hide the triumph I felt. Everything was back to normal. Mira didn’t stand a chance now

But deep down, a small voice whispered that this wasn’t real. That I was only delaying the inevitable. I ignored it. I had won, and that was all that mattered
