Chapter 105: Kaiden

Kaiden’s POV

Selena hadn’t given me any real explanationno full sentences, no calm, thoughtout words. Just a breathless, panicked order: We need to find Lucy. Right now.”

There was no way in hell I would follow her unexplained order, but the sheer terror in her eyes told me it wasn’t something small. It was the kind of fear that stripped a person down to their most desperate instincts. The kind that made you run first and think later

So, without hesitating, without asking the dozen questions exploding in my head, I turned and bolted towards my car. Let’s find her.”

My pulse thundered in my ears, drowning out everything else. I didn’t care what the exact matter was but still the urgency in her voice and the way she clutched her phone with trembling fingers managed to light every possible alarm in my system

Is that the girl’s locker room?Selena’s voice was tight with impatience, her eyes scanning the door as if expecting something scary to be waiting on the other side

I nodded, my own pulse racing. Yeah, the bathroom is inside as well.”

Without a moment’s hesitation, Selena pushed forward, practically slamming the door open with both hands. It crashed against the wall with a sharp, resounding thud. The force of it echoed through the hall, but she barely seemed to notice, her focus entirely on the task at hand. She wasn’t waiting for anyone’s permission, just charging ahead like a woman possessed

I followed closely, the way Selena was acting was undoubtedly scary, I don’t know if she is searching Lucy for something good or bad. Something about her movements felt too urgent, too frantic, as if every second mattered and the moment she found Lucy, she would just cage her forever

When we reached the bathroom, she didn’t even pause. The door flew open again, this time with such force that it felt like she was getting paid to break the doors. But despite all her strength, all the noise, all the wild energy she put into itthere was nothing

The bathroom was empty

Not a single soul in sight

Selena looked like the world was tilting under her feet. Her body was wavering like she’d been struck by an invisible force. Without a sound, she crumpled down onto the cold, dirty tiles, her knees hitting the ground with a hollow thud. Then came the sobsraw, ugly sounds ripped from the deepest part of her. She clutched at the air helplessly, folding in on herself as if she could somehow shrink away from the nightmare unfolding around her

It was like watching someone break apart right in front of me

Piece by trembling piece

I had never been fond of her. If I have to be honest, I literally hated her. But now, as I stood there, watching Selena break apart in front of me, my chest tightened in a way I couldn’t quite understand. My heart hammered painfully against my ribs, an unexpected anxiety taking root deep inside me

I didn’t have the time to analyze itthere was no space for that now. The rawness of the moment caught me off guard. A wave of empathy surged through me, unfamiliar and unsettling

Instinct kicked in before my brain could stop it. I dropped to my knees beside her, barely noticing the cold tiles beneath me. My hands hovered in the air for a second, unsure of what to do with the emotion I was feeling. I gripped her shoulders, feeling the tremor that ran through her body like a live wire

Selena!I barked, my voice harsh, trying to cut through the chaos swirling in her mind. Get yourself together. Everything will be fine.”

She shook her head almost absently, her eyes vacant and distant. The hair at her temples clung damply to her skin, and her breath came in ragged gasps. Nonothing’s gonna be okay,” she murmured, her voice cracking like thin ice. It’s all my fault.”

Her words hit me like a punch to the gut, leavin

sche being, domething in her tone twisted inside me. The urgency of it, the despairsomething felt off. 1 Successfully unlocked! at this wasn’t just a meltdown. This was something deeper, darker

What do you mean? Does Lucy have anything to do with it? Is she okay?My voice came out rougher than I intended, thick with anxiety and confusion. The knot in my stomach twisted tighter. What’s going on?I shook her shoulder with a hard yank, my hands still trembling, even though I tried to force control over them.Tell me!”

Chapter 105: Kaiden

She gasped for air, the sound raw and desperate, as though she hadn’t been able to catch her breath in ages. Her tears spilled, hot and unchecked, tracking messy lines down her pale face. She wiped at them, but they kept coming, like the floodgates had been opened

No,” she croaked, her voice barely a whisper. I can’t tell you. You’ll blame me.”

Her words slashed through the air like a knife. What does she mean by that? Does she have something to do with Lucy’s disappearance

I wanted to snap at her, tell her to pull it together, to stop being so damn cryptic and tell me what’s going on. But looking at herthe way her body trembled, the wild panic in her eyesI held back. The fury that was bubbling inside me simmered, but I kept my cool

Fine,I muttered, swallowing the frustration rising in my throat. I won’t blame you.I took a breath, steadying myself. Tell me. What’s wrong?”

My hand slid down her arm, gripping her wrist lightly but firmly. My eyes locked onto hers, willing her to look at me, to trust me with whatever was happening

For a moment, it seemed like she couldn’t even form words. Just frantic sobs and choked, desperate noises. But then, finally, seconds later, she managed to stammer something outsomething so jarringly ridiculous it barely made sense: II had a dream”

For a long, choking moment, I could only stare at Selena in disbelief, my mind reeling

A dream

A dream

A dream?!

All of thisthe panic, the racing here and there like maniacs, the terrifying possibilities clawing through my head was all just because of a dream

To be continued…
