Talon’s sudden increase in volume startled Zoe. After a moment, she replied, “Emma and Ryan are together now.”
Talon didn’t want to believe this was true, but Zoe didn’t seem to be lying to him.
“That’s impossible. She must be using Ryan to make me jealous,” Talon muttered, lost in thought.
Zoe looked at her brother’s dazed expression. Though she felt satisfied for Emma’s sake, he was still her brother after all. With a sigh, she handed Talon all the evidence she had gathered.
“Think about it carefully. If you try to win her back now, there might still be time,” Zoe advised reluctantly.
Talon shut himself in his room and went through everything. Only now did he realize how terribly wrong he had been. His blind trust in Sophia had caused Emma so much pain.
Regret washed over him. He thought Zoe might be right–if he acted now, he might still have a chance to win Emma back.
With this thought, Talon immediately asked his assistant to track Emma’s whereabouts.
Meanwhile, Ryan received word that Talon was trying to locate Emma.
“Emma, my assistant just told me that Talon is tracking your whereabouts. What do want to do?” Ryan gave Emma the choice of how to handle the situation.
When Emma heard this news, she was first confused, then disgusted.
“Why would he suddenly be finding me? Isn’t he perfectly happy with Sophia?”

“I heard Sophia and Talon had a falling out,” Ryan said, putting his arm around Emma.
Emma pouted unhappily. “So he breaks up with Sophia and immediately comes looking for me? Am I just some convenient backup plan?”

Emma couldn’t understand what she had ever seen in this man, to have chased after him
for seven years.
Ryan knew Emma had lost her memory, but he was still worried about Talon’s plans to find her. He feared Emma might suddenly recover her memories and reunite with Talon.
Emma noticed Ryan’s concern and reassured him.
“Don’t worry. I’ve completely seen through him now. No matter how he tries to win me back, I won’t get back together with him.”
With these words from Emma, Ryan felt much more at ease.
“In that case, why don’t we go on a vacation for a while?”
Not wanting to run into Talon again, Emma agreed to Ryan’s suggestion.
When Talon arrived at Emma’s home, he felt strangely nervous standing before her door. After rehearsing a few times in his mind, he finally raised his hand to knock.
The person who opened the door wasn’t Emma, but her mother.
She recognized Talon at the door and tried to close it, but Talon blocked it with his hand.
“Mrs. Pierce, Emma-”
Talon had barely started when Emma’s mother cut him off. “You have the nerve to mention Emma? She’s doing very well now. We approve of Ryan; he’s a good boy.”
Talon tried to explain, but Mrs. Pierce pulled the door, leaving him with only one last comment: “Stop bothering Emma.
Talon stood dejectedly at Emma’s doorstep. He wanted to ask about her whereabouts but had no excuse to knock again.
After this setback at Emma’s home, Talon had no choice but to return to the city.
When Zoe saw Talon’s dejected appearance, she knew he must have been rebuffed at Emma’s place and couldn’t help asking, “Did you see Emma?”

Talon shook his head.
Zoe considered telling Talon about Emma’s whereabouts, but thinking of all the hurt Emma had endured, she felt this situation was actually fitting.
If winning Emma back proved difficult for Talon, then maybe he would truly cherish her if he succeeded.
With this in mind, Zoe said to Talon, “Emma used to chase after you,
you, and
you never appreciated her. Now that she’s really over you, you finally understand how hard it is to pursue someone.”
Talon didn’t contradict Zoe, allowing his sister to lecture him.
Zoe’s words were accurate–this was what he deserved for his mistakes.
Talon remained depressed for several days. Sophia came to see him a few times but was turned away.
Seeing that Talon genuinely wanted to make amends, Zoe reluctantly told him:
“Emma’s back from her trip.”
Hearing this, Talon immediately prepared to go to Los Angeles to find Emma.
