Chapter 2
ว
After ending the call, Emma roughly calculated the time needed to settle her affairs and bought a plane ticket to Los Angeles for two weeks later.
Just after purchasing the ticket, a nurse came to notify her of a follow–up examination.
She sat in the wheelchair, but as soon as she left the room and looked up, she’d see a very familiar
face–one she had just seen in the photo gallery.
Talon Sullivan!
Upon seeing her, the coldness in his expression intensified, instantly freezing over.
“How did you know I was here? Are you following me even to the hospital?”
Emma hadn’t expected her first post–amnesia meeting with Talon would be like this.
Moreover, he seemed so repulsed by her.

She was stunned for a moment before coming to her senses. “You misunderstand. I’m not following
you. I was in a car accident on the highway earlier, so I’ve been hospitalized.”
Talon frowned, glancing at her a few times and was about to say something when someone.
suddenly walked out of the hospital room.
Only then did he step forward to greet them. “Sophia, you just recovered from a fever. Didn’t I tell
you to rest properly? Why did you come out?”
Hearing this name, Emma instinctively turned and saw Sophia in a white dress with long hair cascading down to her waist.
The moment their gazes met in the air, she revealed a faint smile, looking at Talon with some
surprise.
“The room felt stuffy, so I came out for some air. Talon, who is this?”
Talon’s gaze sharpened slightly. “My sister’s best friend, Emma Pierce, a designer from the
company’s design department. We’re not very familiar.”

Hearing this, Sophia’s lips curved upward slightly, her expression gentle as she said, “Miss Pierce, nice to meet you. I’m Sophia Chen. With your head bandaged like that, did you have some kind of
accident?”
Emma nodded. “Yes, I was in a car accident, had a mild concussion, and experienced some
memory…”
Before she could finish, a nurse called out from behind her.
“Patient from Room 1124, Emma Pierce, it’s time for your examination.”
Hearing this, Emma lost interest in exchanging pleasantries with people she couldn’t remember and,
after briefly saying goodbye, quickly wheeled herself off for her examination.
Rather, it was the people behind her who were affected–seeing her uncharacteristically cold response, Talon frowned, unusually giving her a second glance.
Hadn’t she always been clingy and persistent whenever she saw him?
How could she leave so easily now?
After completing several routine checks, Emma went to the pharmacy to get her medication.
Passing the garden below, she thought the weather was nice and wanted some sunshine, so she went
for a little stroll by herself.
Just as she reached the pool, Sophia approached and called out to her.
“Miss Pierce? You’re also out for some air. What a coincidence.”
Emma was also surprised to encounter her again and politely exchanged a few pleasantries.
Sophia was very friendly and soon offered to push Emma’s wheelchair, smiling brightly.
“Talon just took a call. I’m a bit bored by myself, so why don’t we chat? Since you’re Zoe’s friend and
have worked with Talon for so many years, I have something I’d like to ask. While I was abroad, I heard there was a girl who pursued Talon for seven years. Do you know who that girl is? What’s
Talon’s attitude toward her?”
Hearing this, Emma froze momentarily but quickly recovered, her voice calm.
“I don’t know. But if someone pursued him for seven years and he still only has eyes for you, it’s

clear that you’re the most important person in his heart. Everyone else is insignificant.”
Hearing Emma speak so confidently, surprise flashed in Sophia’s eyes, her tone becoming slightly shy.
“You know about me and Talon’s story? Does he mention me often?”
Emma recalled what Zoe had said about how much Talon loved Sophia and nodded slightly. “Yes.”
Sophia’s face grew increasingly red, her eyes filling with joy.
“Talon was the genius heartthrob a year above me, drowning in admirers–yet he only had eyes for me. He courted me relentlessly until I said yes. For four years, he worshipped me: attending every class with me, carpeting the campus in roses for our anniversary, raging with jealousy if anyone so much as glanced my way…”
Emma listened quietly as Sophia reminisced, she simply wasn’t interested at all.
“These days I’ve been sick from jet lag, and he’s been taking care of me. I can feel he wants to talk about getting back together, but for some reason, he hasn’t brought it up. I thought maybe he had feelings for that girl, so I came to you.”
Emma feeling nothing but detached amusement. “I think since he cares so much about you, he definitely wouldn’t casually rush into asking about getting back together. He’s probably preparing a surprise for you.”
Hearing this, Sophia felt a wave of relief. She waved goodbye–only for her phone to slip from her grasp and plunge into the pool with a splash.
“Oh no!” She dropped to her knees, scrambling for it, but lost her balance. Arms flailing, she toppled forward and crashed into the pool.
Emma froze for half a heartbeat. Then, gripping the wheels of her chair, she spun around to call for help-
But just as she turned, she saw Talon sprinting over, jumping into the water without hesitation to rescue Sophia.
She coughed violently, gasping for air as water spilled from her lips. Only when her breathing steadied did the panic in Talon’s expression finally ease.
Emma watched his every reaction, quietly backing her wheelchair away to call for medical help-

“Stop.” His voice was a whip–crack of accusation. “You pushed her in, didn’t you? And now you’re just going to walk away like nothing happened?”
Emma stiffened. “She fell trying to grab her phone. I didn’t push her–and I wasn’t leaving her to
drown.”
Talon cut her off with a glare. “Her phone? I was gone for five minutes, and suddenly she’s by the pool, nearly dead? You expect me to believe that’s a coincidence?
Before she could respond, he shoved her wheelchair–hard.
