“Alpha Lucien,” Tarian’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts. It was then I saw how everyone was staring at me for holding Auren in my lap. Not that I cared, but I felt better for showing them all that she belonged to me. I waited for my fucker cock to go down, but it wanted to wedge between her thighs, inside her tight pussy. No, Lucien. She was too fragile for me. If I claimed her, I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from marking her, and that would- Damn it. I didn’t want to go in those inky waters.
“Stay here,” I ordered her as I went with Tarian.
The Celestial Soirée was a popular mating event held in my pack. Many wolves from the neighboring packs came to attend it. I encouraged this because l knew that mates could be found anywhere. Over the years the event had become more debauched than ever. From the corner of my eye, I saw Sable approaching us when I was talking to the werewolves. Her sheer silver dress was daring. One could see that she was wearing only a silver bra and thong beneath it.
“Alpha Lucien,” she said with a smile that dripped with honey.
I gave her a curt nod, remembering that her father was speaking against Auren. Then I focused back on the wolves I was talking with
She interrupted in a soft voice, “Can I have a dance with you?”
I raised my eyebrow, silently questioning her boldness and crossing her boundaries. And this wasn’t the first time. She flinched pushed forward, her voice trembling slightly. “I know it’s too much to ask you, but.. it would mean everything to me.”

Sable’s eyes searched mine, glinting with something I recognized too well: ambition. Why did I feel that she wasn’t just asking for a dance and this was a calculated move? For Sable, dancing with me at the Celestial Soirée wasn’t simply about romance or attraction. It was abo seen by the pack as someone important, someone with influence. Dancing with the Alpha would give her the attention she was seeking. Or was she
power. She wanted to be
trying to show everyone that she was being considered by me?
Her gaze flickered briefly toward Auren. That’s when I realized this wasn’t just about her ambition. Auren was a rival, and Sable veiled attempt to undermine her presence. She wanted to show that my little lamb was nothing in front of her. That her status was beneath her.

“No, thanks,” I said gruffly and watched her shrink. “However, if you like, these wolves would love to dance with you,” I added, waving at the crowd I was standing with.
Sable blushed at my comment, but I ignored her and glanced at Auren. However, blood drained from my face when I saw that she wasn’t in her place. I turned abruptly and walked to where she was sitting, flitting my gaze everywhere to see where she was. Tarian followed me. “Where is she?” I barked.
Tarian was also confused but he looked menacing as he scanned the crowd. At that moment, a thousand ominous thoughts came to my mind. It was like I could murder the world just to find her. Tarian rushed to the entrance to search for her, as I strode outside the pack house. She could be anywhere. Her smell was strong near the table but so was the smell of other wolves. Did anyone take her away? Was she kidnapped? Fuck. My stomach plummeted at the thought. I didn’t realize that my claws had slipped out until I raked a tree with them as I ran around the pack house to search her.
Remus was going mad in my head. ‘Find her!‘ he commanded, urging me to not stop. His restlessness was washing over me. He wanted to break out of me and go to find her. Never in my life had such a strong urge, need and desperation to find someone. Why was it with Auren? She wasn’t my mate. She was just a breeder who was slowly crawling beneath my skin.
Panting, I leaned with my arm against a tree, trying to focus on the world around me to get a hind where she was. Suddenly, I heard a sharp scream. “Auren!” I shouted and ran towards the source of the scream. I was sure it was Auren because with every step forward her smell was getting stronger. She was in danger. That rattled me from inside like nothing. All I wanted was to reach her and wrap her in my arms and fucking kill whosoever had put her in danger. I opened my mind link with Tarian and gave him my location. ‘Get more warriors with you. Now!‘
I jumped over the bushes and ran through a fucking fountain to reach her. Her smell was stronger near the glass house. Without circling it to find the door, I fucking smashed the glass with my punch and entered only to see that she was on the couch with her hand on her cheek. Cody, Jace, Finn and Blake were standing in front of her, towering her in an intimidating manner. My vision turned red.
“How dare you?” I let out a growl so loud that the windows and doors rattled. All of four of them blanched upon seeing me and before I knew I was throwing punches at them.

“Fuck you!” I growled and punched him square on the face, my claws slashing through his arm. Then I turned to Cody and Jace. Grabbing them both their collars, I used my alpha strength to collide their heads together. With a loud groan the two slumped to the ground unconscious. My eyes went to Auren who was crying with tears streaming down uncontrollably. My heart wrenched at the sight and I wanted to kill all of them. From the periphery of my vision, I saw Blake running away. Finn got up and opened his mouth to say something, but I punched him hard. Within a few moments all of them were on the ground, bleeding and begging for mercy.
“Al–Alpha Lucien,” Finn groaned. “Sh–she wanted us t–to–f–fuck her and got us here. When we refused the breeder, sh–she threatened us that she would complain about us to you.”
Shocked, my gaze flitted to Auren whose mouth dropped to the floor.
