Chapter 23
_Killian’s POV_
It was finally the night of the Selene festival. My heart beat with anticipation and a tinge of dread as I checked everything we were bringing. We had chosen gifts carefully: a finely crafted dagger, a rare wine from the vineyards near our pack, and an ornate leather–bound book about pack histories. Hayden and Pete helped me load everything into the car, and as we climbed in, the tension was almost tangible.
“So, we’re really doing this?” Hayden muttered, tapping his fingers nervously on the steering wheel as he drove.
“Yes,” I replied firmly. “Once we get in, we will split up and start searching for her. Don’t forget to keep your phones with you for communication.”
Pete let out a long sigh in the back seat. “I’m not thrilled about separating in an unfamiliar pack, Killian. What if they catch on?”
“We’ll stay low–profile,” I assured him. “Each of us searches a different area. If anyone spots her, text the others immediately. We’ll approach her together and convince her to come home.”
Hayden nodded, his expression shifting to one of resolve. “And if anything goes wrong, I have a friend there who said he would help.”
I glanced over at him, grateful. “That’s good to know. Let’s just hope we don’t need backup.”
For the rest of the ride, we spoke little, each lost in our own thoughts. The drive seemed endless, the anxiety building as we got closer. Finally, the glowing lights of the Blue Moon pack territory came into view, casting an ethereal glow against the night sky.
We pulled up to the main gate, where a guard with a stern expression approached. He took one look at us and raised an eyebrow. “State your business.”
I cleared my throat, trying to sound calm. “I am Killian, son of the Alpha of the Firemoon pack. We have come to attend the Selene festival as guests.”
The guard squinted at me before taking out his phone. He spoke into it in a low tone,

glancing over at us a couple of times. After a tense pause, he nodded and motioned for us to pass. “You are clear to enter.‘
As we stepped inside, the pack territory unfolded before us. It was breathtaking.
White lilies decorated every corner, the flowers glistening under the soft glow of
lanterns hung along the pathways. It was beautiful and, oddly, welcoming.
We didn’t wait long before the Alpha of the Blue Moon pack came to greet us. He was
a well–built man, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes that held a sharp, almost
unsettling gaze. He looked a bit older than us but still young, maybe in his late
twenties.
He extended his hand, and I shook it, feeling the strength in his grip. “Welcome,
Killian,” he said with a smile that reached his eyes. “I am pleased to meet the future
Alpha of Firemoon. I am sure you’ll be a great leader one day.”
“Thank you, Alpha,” I replied, keeping my tone respectful.
Pete and Hayden stepped forward, presenting the gifts. He seemed genuinely
pleased, nodding his thanks before calling over his Beta and Gamma to collect the
items. “Jason, Lucian,” he introduced, and they gave us nods of greeting.
We exchanged a few words about the festival, keeping the conversation light. The
Alpha seemed friendly, his reputation as a ruthless leader feeling almost misplaced in
this setting. He looked at me and said, “I would like to strengthen the relations
between our packs. We have a lot we could learn from each other.”
I nodded, doing my best to match his tone. “I think our packs could benefit from a
closer alliance, Alpha. Thank you for allowing us to join tonight.”
He smiled, glancing around the decorated grounds. “Enjoy yourselves. It’s a night to
honor Selene and to let go of our worries. I’ll have some food brought over for you in
a moment.”
The festival atmosphere was lively, with laughter and music filling the air. The pack
members mingled around us, sharing drinks and stories. People smiled at us as if we
were one of their own, and for a moment, it was easy to forget the real reason we
were here.
Then the Alpha leaned forward, lowering his voice. “I need to attend to something,

but please make yourselves comfortable. I’ll rejoin you soon.”
As soon as he walked away, I turned to Pete and Hayden, my voice barely above a whisper. “Let’s start searching for her.”
