Chapter 11

_Mira’s POV_

The next morning, I felt a new sense of calm as I got dressed and made my way downstairs

The nightmare still lingered in the back of my mind, but Aaron’s presence had soothed me

enough that I managed to sleep afterward. I was grateful for him, for how he had stayed with

me when I needed it most

As I entered the dining room, I saw Aaron already sitting at the table, reading something. He looked up and gave me a warm smile. He gestured for me to join him

Good morning, Mira,he greeted. Did you manage to sleep aftereverything?”

I nodded, settling into the chair across from him. Yes, actually. Thanks to you. I don’t know what I would have done without your help last night.”

He shrugged as if it were nothing. It’s no trouble. I told you I would be here whenever you need

me.”

His words made me feel a little lighter, and I found myself smiling. Thank you, Aaron. It

means a lot.”

He took a sip of his coffee, studying me thoughtfully. Soare you adjusting? Feeling any better about being here?”

I hesitated, glancing around the room. It’sdifferent,” I admitted. But in a good way, I think. Everyone here is still getting used to me, though.”

He chuckled softly. They’ll warm up to you, Mira. Give them time.”

I nodded, and a question popped into my mind. Aaron, if you don’t mind me askingwhere are your parents? I haven’t seen them around.”

His smile faded slightly, and I immediately regretted asking. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-

No, it’s alright. He paused, looking down at his hands for a moment before speaking. They died a long time ago. There wasan accident. He took a deep breath, then looked back at me, his expression calm but a little distant. I was their only son, so I took over the pack with the help of my Beta and Gamma. They’re like family to me.”

Oh.My voice was soft, and I felt a pang of sympathy. I’m so sorry, Aaron. I didn’t mean to bring up something painful.”

He waved his hand, offering a small smile. Don’t worry about it. It’s part of life. We move on and do the best we can, right?”

I nodded, admiring his strength. He seemed so resilient, despite everything he had been

through

Then he turned to me, his eyes gentle. Do you miss your family, Mira? Orfriends from your old pack?”

I swallowed, unsure how to answer at first. Not really. I didn’t have a lot of friends there, and

my familywell, they didn’t care much for me.I felt a dull ache in my chest as I spoke. It was

strange to say it out loud

Aaron’s gaze softened, and he reached across the table, placing a comforting hand on mine.

am sorry, Mira. You deserve better than that.”

I shrugged, trying to brush it off. It’s in the past. I justI hope I can make new friends here.”

You will,he said with a confident smile. And I’ll be here to help make sure of it.”

His words brought a warmth to my heart, and I smiled, feeling a spark of hope. After

breakfast, Aaron stood and extended his hand to me

Come on,” he said. I want to show you around. There’s a lot more to see here than just the

mansion.”

Curious, I took his hand, and we walked outside. The grounds of the pack territory were vast and beautiful, even more than I had imagined. He led me down a stone path toward a garden filled with flowers of all colorsroses, lilies, daisies, even bluebells

This is the flower garden,he explained. Some of the pack members like to come here to

relax and clear their minds.”

I inhaled the sweet fragrance of the flowers, letting it wash over me. “It’s beautiful.”

He smiled, watching me take it all in. I thought that you would like it.”

From there, we walked to the training grounds, where a few pack members were sparring and practicing their moves. The air buzzed with energy, and I could feel the strength and discipline

of Aaron’s pack

These are the training grounds,” Aaron said. We have some of the strongest warriors here. They work hard to protect the pack.”

I watched in awe, feeling a surge of admiration for the warriors. They moved with such precision and power, and I couldn’t help but feel a little envious

As we walked, he showed me other places around the territorya small stream that ran

through the woods, the stables, even a lookout point with a view of the surrounding forest. It

was all so peaceful, so different from the pack I had left behind

After a while, I turned to him, feeling a sudden curiosity. Aaron, if you don’t mind me asking…

how old are you?”

He looked at me, a bit surprised, then chuckled. I’m thirtytwo. Why?”

I shrugged, feeling a little embarrassed. I was just curious. You seem soput together. Like

you have been doing this forever.”

He laughed, a warm sound that made my heart flutter. I guess I have had a lot of practice

But it’s not always as easy as it looks.”

I nodded, taking in his words. Have you ever met your mate? The question slipped out before

I could stop it, and I bit my lip, worried I had overstepped

But Aaron’s expression softened, and he shook his head. No. The Moon Goddess never

blessed me with a mate.He looked away, his voice quiet. I have been on my own for a long

time.”

Oh,I whispered, feeling a strange ache in my chest for him. I’m sorry.”

He shrugged, his gaze meeting mine again. It’s alright, really. I have learned to accept it.”

I hesitated, the words bubbling up before I could stop them. I guess I’ll be alone, too. My mate

rejected me, and secondchance mates are so rareMy voice trailed off, and I felt a lump in

my throat

Aaron reached over and took my hand in his. His touch was warm. Don’t say that, Mira

You’re not alone. And you never will be.” His eyes held a softness, a depth that made my heart

skip a beat. I’ll always be here for you.”

I looked into his eyes and I could see something I hadn’t noticed beforea flicker of affection

something deep and genuine

Was hefalling for me

I felt my cheeks warm, and I quickly looked away, my heart racing. Thank you, Aaron. Really.”

He squeezed my hand, his voice soft. You’re welcome, Mira. You deserve happiness, and I’ll

do whatever I can to help you find it.”

We stood there in the quiet, a comfortable silence stretching between us. His hand in mine

felt so natural, like it belonged there, and I couldn’t help but wonder if maybejust maybe

there was something more between us

As the morning sun rose higher, casting a golden glow over the garden, I felt a sense of peace settle in my heart. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I wasn’t just passing throughlike I had a place, and maybe even someone who cared for me
