Chapter 5
Kirsty’s animal abuse was exposed in these photos.
The carcasses of stray cats and dogs were a ghastly sight.
Kirsty smiled widely, appearing to take delight in the gruesome act.
There were also photos of Kirsty handing over a pink package to a delivery person and of me opening the package, which revealed the dead strays inside.
As the photos scattered on the floor, Aaron caught a glimpse of a few and threw up right
there and then.
Austin, an obstetrician, was no stranger to bloody images.
Still, he skimmed through a few before looking away.
I thought they would finally see Kirsty for the person she was.
Instead, Austin put away the photos and tore into me.
“Bella, what’s the point of setting Kirsty up by editing a few photos? Kirsty is a kind soul.
She can’t stand to see animals hurt. Her 5 million followers know about her charity work
with animal rescue. She couldn’t possibly harm these poor creatures.
“Whose idea was it to manipulate the pictures? Yours or Autumn’s? Don’t you have better things to do than being jealous and petty?”
Feeling exhausted, I pinched the bridge of my nose. “We have cameras at home. You can
check the footage online right now. The delivery guy’s social media handle is TinyTeddy.
You can check his post from three days ago. Kirsty posted videos of animal abuse on the
dark web.”
Autumn chimed in, “Ignorance is one thing, but idiots who think they’re smart are on a
whole other level.”

With some reluctance, Austin checked the security footage and adjusted the timeline to three days ago.
Aaron took out his phone to look into the delivery guy’s account.
His eyes widened. “The package really is from Kirsty…”
Austin watched the footage, his complexion paling. “The package does contain the dead bodies of strays. Why would Kirsty do such a thing?”
Not wasting our time with these broken brothers, Autumn and I got into the car and left.
The brothers followed us back to our rented place anyway.
Aaron said uneasily, “I was wrong about you before, Autumn. I never expected Kirsty to be
so heartless. I’ll make sure to keep my distance from her. We can drop the divorce if that’s
what you want.”
“No. I’ve had enough of you,” Autumn replied in disgust.
Aaron was offended. “You hounded me to be with you back then. Just don’t regret this
decision later.”
He had always been a proud man. Not one to ask again, he walked away.
Autumn stared at his receding figure, her eyes filled with mockery and disappointment.
Aaron told Austin to leave with him
but Austin declined.
Austin gripped the door frame. “Don’t close the door, Bella! I’m the best obstetrician. You’re weak from losing a lot of blood. You need rest. Let me stay and take care of you.”
“Oh, I don’t deserve your time and energy. Save it for your precious woman and your puppy,” I sneered.
Austin looked awkward and regretful. “I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. I grew up with Kirsty, so I thought I knew her inside and out. I didn’t think she would go behind my back and hurt you. But I promise, I was only nice to her because she saved my life. I’ve never done

anything to hurt you. I’ve never been unfaithful to you, not even emotionally.”
He raised his fingers as if to swear.
I narrowed my eyes at him. “How do you plan on making her pay?”
Not only was I soft, but I was also a crybaby.

Austin probably thought I would be over the whole thing with a bit of sweet talk. Little did he know, I was out for revenge.
He stumbled for words. “M–Make her pay? We should just put this behind us. She saved my life before, so we’re even. Don’t worry. I won’t have anything to do with her. I won’t do
anything to upset you again.”
